RIT's all-women, 24-hour hackathon hosted by Women in Computing

WiCHacks is an all-women, 24-hour hackathon hosted by Women in Computing at RIT. A hackathon is a collaborative programming event in which participants create an app, website, game, or other piece of software over the course of the event.

This event is open to all skill levels: from women who haven't programmed at all, to the best women programmers out there, it will be a great day to learn, invent, and create the future!

Hackathon participants must be female identifying students currently enrolled at a college/university and are 18 years or older.

WiC: Best Newbie Hack

Is this your first time attending a hackathon or creating a hack? For all the people who came here just starting to code, we encourage you to keep building things and learning. This is just the start of a truly rewarding journey.

**To be eligible for this category, at least half of the team has to be first-time hackers. We want to encourage all first-time hackers to submit their creations.

WiC: Best Women and Gender Issue Hack

We love seeing women empowering other women through technology! Whether it’s for equality in the workplace, women’s health, or anything else you can think of, this prize category is for women empowering each other. Given to the team with the best hack that empowers women.

Best Domain Name from Domain.com

Register a domain using Domain.com during the weekend. Each team may submit one entry per person on the team. Each winning team member will receive a Raspberry Pi & PiHut Essential Kit.

Best IoT Hack Using a Qualcomm Device

Use a Qualcomm device, like the Dragonboard 410C, in your IoT project. Each winning team member will receive their own DragonBoard 410C.

Snap Kit Prize

Use Snap Kit's web or mobile SDK in your hack. Each winning team member will receive an awesome Casio calculator watch.

TCGPlayer: Best Use of Gaming Data

TCGPlayer has an an open API with gaming data, but you're free to use any source.
$200 amazon Gift Card for each team member.

Wegmans: Best Mash-Up of the Wegmans API

Take our data and mash it up with any other data, or make something unique, a game, etc.
